Licensing & plans
The core tracker is free and fully usable forever — issues, boards, projects, cycles, search, the web UI, the JSON API and MCP read tools are never gated. Paid licences unlock the premium tiers described on the pricing page.
Offline verification
A licence is a small signed JSON file. Rilbo verifies its Ed25519 signature locally against a key built into the binary:
- no licence server, no account, no activation call — it works air-gapped
- nothing phones home, ever (there is no telemetry in the product at all)
- install it from the CLI or paste it into Settings → Licence:

Paid licences run for one year. All updates released during that term are included. Renewing extends premium access for another year; if you do not renew, the non-hostile expiry rules below apply.
Non-hostile expiry
If a licence expires (or is revoked), Rilbo deliberately degrades gently:
- premium actions pause — the app reverts to the Free feature set
- your database is never locked, and nothing is deleted
- Downgrading hides the agent audit view without deleting its history

Your data is yours. A lapsed licence should never hold it hostage.
This holds even in the worst case. Because verification is entirely offline, your installation does not depend on us existing: if we disappeared tomorrow, Rilbo would keep running untouched, and when its licence eventually expired it would revert to the free edition — with your database intact and every export path still open. Software you run on your own hardware should never become a hostage situation, and we have designed the licensing so it cannot.

Team paid purchases start at 2 seats. This is a commercial checkout minimum, not a licence-format or entitlement validation: manually issued one-seat Team licences remain valid for evaluation, support, or testing.

Team grants both shared_mcp_tokens and agent_audit. The governance UI/API filters by service, API credential, MCP client, transport, approver, team, tool, action, outcome, proposal, and date. Its allowlisted response excludes payloads, diffs, network metadata, credential hashes, issue titles and descriptions, tool arguments, proposal summaries, and results. It is distinct from the Pro agent activity report, which is a report/export under advanced_reports.
